Holtzapffel setup is tedious...

on 2000-10-18 18:10:21 UTC
Group,

I have a friend with one of the "modern" Holtzapffel's. It's made by
a man who owns a gear cutting company in Kansas(?). My friend has
owned this one for several years. All I can say when I look at the
mechanisms and piles of gears, etc is I'm glad I have CNC machines.
Talk about a tedious machine to setup. Now my friend wants to go
with a small 4 axis CNC mill which with some very clever programming
with do almost any thing a Holtzapffel will do.
