The "Look-ahead" feature is what you get when you "Load" a program
rather than use "DNC" mode. Another thing I always do is to use G64
"Constant contouring mode" to eliminate pausing to update the screen.
Yes, the "look-ahead" is for cutter comp, the machine needs to figure out
in advance where to stop and start the next cut.
I got my information just by playing around. I saw what the install program
added to my config.sys file and tried changing the amount of memory to see
what it would do. If you go too small on memory, the maximum program size
drops quickly. I have 96M ram so I tried to give it as much as possible
untill
I had strange errors (1/2 physical memory was about it).
Also, DON'T put the ram drive in upper memory. I tried it and had all kinds
of
problems with jogging and cutter comp errors.

P.S. Anyone know of a good replacement motor with more torque?
Also, is there a way to convert their CHEAP AC/DC spindle motor
to a variable speed DC motor. I have several 1/2 hp Sherline motors
and would like to use one for the spindle drive as I need high torque not
RPM.
I cut mostly aluminum and stainless, sometimes titanium and other exotics.
Thanks.
