Not Darrel, but here is a short answer,

This is a question that has a long answer that I will let others explain in
detail of why and how. But, the short of it is it happens all the time. At
low speeds the steppers are able to handle the instantaneous acceleration
and you don't see it. At high speeds the steppers stall. This was a problem
that Matt Shaver noted with Steppermod and was the reason for the creation
of Freqmod. With the newer motion module the problem is reduced, but you do
have the problem of speed changes at higher rates being a greater amount
than the steppers can handle.
