There was a lot of discussion a while back but the problem is that the
pulse rate at one speed are near perfect but as the rate increases,
there are bands of frequencies that fall in between the frequencies that
the computer will out put. The result is that at those frequencies, it
misses an out put and then catches up then misses then catches up. That
puts the stepper accelerating and decelerating at a rate that is beyond
the ability of the motor to keep up so it stalls.
