Router Cutting Aluminum

What are the disadvantages of using a wood router for cutting
aluminum? I am building a spindle for a 3 axis mill. I was thinking
about a 2HP Porter Cable VS router motor or an electric die grinder.
8000-12000 RPM
A VS wood router or die grinder offers a lot of power in a small
package and are very easy to mount.
I have machined aluminum some with a router mounted on a lathe, but
it was a pretty flimsy setup.
Anyone have experience with this?
The only problem I can think of is the Aluminum dust floating around
and getting breathed in.
