Wally: My knee"feed" is actually a big stepper motor for positioning. I have not ,as yet, converted to ball screws. Everything is
original and unaltered. The mount bolts to the knee using those same 1/4X20 screw holes that secure the bearing retainer(that alloy
piece I told you about. You may consider another belt ratio than 2to1 for this feed. Not so much for power but the "rounding off
"factor that some software uses. I think that I used 1 to 2 1/2 ratio. Do use a 1" wide belt here(big load). Let me say again, I
have not modified in any way any original pieces. No holes drilled. Everything bolts on to existing holes. I just finished a cnc
conversion of my Hardinge HLV-H tool room lathe. Same deal, no hole drilled in the machine. Used original pieces only. Challenging
but possible.
I did take some shots with my video camera of the mounting plates. I can probably digitize some shots and put them up if you want.
Well, I am getting ready to take a 4+ hour drive to my mom's for Thanksgiving. Will be back Friday night.
