Well, you could try to place a far-end bearing mount in the knee, but
it would be extremely difficult to get it in the right place, exactly in
line with the nut and handle-end bearing! I assume all Bridgport
conversions on Series-I machines are this way. I don't know
about series-II machines, but the re likely that way, too. The Y
axis is a pretty short screw, anyway. I did my ballscrew conversion
this way, as I saw no way to accurately place the bearing support,
and it would be just plain difficult to do anything deep in the rear of
the knee, anyway.
