Some years ago, a buddy bought an English motorcycle. The instruction
book said, to clean the chain, dip it in parafin.

In the US, parafin is a hard wax used for sealing food canning jars.

My buddy was about to dip his chain into his bucket of melted parafin
when I convinced him to call a person I knew from England.
