How about working out an example of this i would like to see if you
work in mm or convert to inches.

I assumed that you would keep the same unit of measurement as anyone with any sense would.
the dot pitch is the small holes that make of the screen on the monitor. regardless what resolution your computer's indicates the small holes limit the resolution that you will see. For instance a 14 inch monitor will have a horizontal with of about 10 inches ( 254mm ) if the dot pitch is .28 the formula ( 254/(.28*2) = 453.5714 roughly.some monitors dot pitch is a bit closer you may wish to use 1.5 instead of 2 then the results come out to the 604.7619 this would still be a rough estimate. But I doubt the actual resolution would be much more than about 10 % higher. And there's no way to overcome this limitation regardless of the type of monitor that you have. although some video projector do not have a screen mask so they do not have this limitation.
