Sounds good, Matt.
EMC on a large industrial gantry machine might be a very good match.

If I can be playing around with install issues while the parallel port thing
is tried it should time about right.

If EMC runs solidly I will buy the stg card if I have to. I must face the
fact that all my old favorite LM628 software that I
have written over the years may get orphaned as the old hardware goes away.

I still have some mechanical issues to deal with as well...
way covers and such.

Also have some minor tronics to do. I am whipping up a little
dual optical shutter speed sensor to detect runaway rapids.
Just uses a 555 and a couple of logic gates.

A runaway velocity mode caused by a shorted output transistor would not be a
good thing with 1000 lb+ moving mass!
