Something's wrong, here. Did you set up partitions? How did you arrange
them? 1.2 GB is PLENTY for a full workstation with X-windows, help files,
development libraries, kernel source, etc. Maybe Linux was trying to fit
into the space left over, without harming the 1.2 GB 'DOS' partition.
That would definitely not leave much space (maybe a single MB fragment,
or so).
