2-D shape Cutting solutions.

Ladies and Gentlmen,

I have worked with a water jet 2D CnC shape cutter and it would suit my
needs in a hobby respect except that they are cost prohibitive.

I would like info on building a 2D shape cutter. If I understand
correctly the stepper motor and machine superstructure would not be that
difficult, its the cutter,
I am looking to build something that will cut 4'X4' sheetmetal up to say
1/4" steel.
