I drew up my idea and posted to my web site.

is the link, it's a 9k file. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on it
since right now I'm just trying to convey the concept.
All I would want from this is that the probe tip returns to a repeatable
position. Given the overall accuracy I can expect in actually machining
patterns on a cnc knee mill, if the probe returned to .001 I'd be happy
since I'll be doing 1/2 scale or smaller.
The way I had my mill wired before, switching to another software
package to drive things would have been a bear. Have just finished the
driver cabinet and I have step/dir input for the drivers going to a DB
connector, which will go to my (yet to be built) I/O cabinet where it
will connect to the Ahha breakout board. So now I could just disconnect
that cable and hook up a cable from the parallel port, and move the
axis. Would be nice to be able to run both programs on the same PC!
Would your software work on a simple contact closure for input, or would
a circuit be needed to generate a 5v signal?
