Disclaimer: I'm just thinking out loud (the erase button still works);

a. all dyes fade... the mordant (fixative) when dying cloth makes a real difference.
b. almost all dyes are organic....and therefore sensitive to UV light, heat, etc.
c. there are activities associated with aluminum oxide (anodize) e.g. amount of moisture and acidic or basic.
d. I'm guessing that the concentrations of the electrolyte and possibly the impressed voltage and maybe the current density may make a difference in the final product.
e. talking to a friendly anodizer might help. i.e get some initial conditons for electrolyte conc, voltage, etc.

Best of luck and if you get something good please share it. :-)
