I got a Mitsubishi DJ-1000 (I'm pretty sure that's the correct model #)
for about $79 on eBay. It has no LCD viewer, just an optical sight.
No focus, no zoom, low resolution. it does have a memory card, and
my set came with the IDE adaptor for the PC. Downloading the images
only takes 15 seconds or so for the whole card. One gotcha that really
messed me up - don't ever pull the memory card out of the PC while
it is on! It can blitz the IDE hard drive, even though it is on the OTHER
IDE bus! Anyway, this camera is not good enough for taking high quality
pictures of the family, etc. But, for posting a picture of a sale item for
eBay, or to make illustrations for your web pages, it is ideal, once you
learn a few tricks. One is to take your pictures outside, under full sun.
They look GLORIOUS! The other is to never take pictures under fluorescent
lights - they are abominable. Apparently, the flickering of the fluorescents
fouls up the exposure measurement scheme of this camera. At $79, you
can't go too far wrong. By the way, I've used this camera for almost
2 years, and it is STILL on the original batteries! It is obviously the
LCD backlight that gobbles up batteries on the others.
