Re: EMC Running My Controller

I have been using the servo lite system for about two years. I have one of
the protypes on my enco mill. Bill and I worked together to improve it quite
a bit and I think we have achieved that. I have the newer design in one of
my cases running my mill drill.
Now that I have emc up and running I went back and read the docs. I
discovered that using the parallel port you are limited to 5KHZ thru the
parallel port. On a stepper system that would be 5000/400 (steps per rev)
=12.5RPS X 60 seconds = 750 RPM which is pretty fast. In the full step mode
you would get 1500 RPM's However on a servo system with a 200 count encoder
in quadrature is 800 counts and at 5Khz/800=6.25RPS X60=375 RPM
If that is correct in the docs then that would be ther limiting factor using
the parallel port. I plan to connect it to my servo system anyway on the
chance that the doc are wrong and the thru put is faster. I'll let you know
in a few days when I switch over to the servo system.
Dan
Bill and I have talked about using an isa port like the servo to go system
and run the signals to a modified servo lite board
