It is possible to change them editing the external interface
files. I wrote my own set of files to use a 24 bit digital I/O card for
my
I/O instead of a parallel port.

Now, having edited/created the same ste of files for the motion, the
general
(estop, limit) I/O, etc. Having done it, I'd recommend Tim's suggestion
below. Much easier.
