Rab,

While you still need to get your soldering iron out, this works pretty good.
Go to radio shack and get a 25 pin serial port jumper box. (not sure of
the exact name) It's got a 25 pin D-sub connector on each end connected
together by a small circuit board. It comes with wires to jumper the pins
and you can make one for each software version you try.
BTW I realize that we are not using the serial port but it works fine on the
parallel port.
