I do have a PC set up with one of these Quadrature reader boards, and it
will work with the 8" scale.
I just wanted to see if there was an easy way to bring the head unit back to
life, as its smaller, with the nice touch screen and big number display. It
just seems to be one of the many brain dead pieces of electronics in the
shop.
There is not even much to salvage inside the case.
If these things had a known, common failure mode, I might try to fix it, but
as it is, I probably won't attempt it.

If you have more questions contact me off line and I will try to test
options for you.

try it before I'd fuss with the
Acu-rite. I have a working acu-rite but I acquiried that before I knew about
the Kaluga/Mauch. :-(
