The flat gibs, as used by MAX, are spotfaced on the backside for the
setscrews. They do not dent, as little actual torque is applied to them.
They do however, bend slightly. As the ano on mine slowly begines to
wear off, it's coming off the gib strips at the setscrew points first.
Main drawback to this setup is that there is a VERY fine line between
getting the minimum clearance you can run at, and binding.
Most Sherline people don't realize this, but the plastic gib is really
pretty warped. Take the time to scrape it in so it makes full contact,
and you will be surprised how rigid you can get the slides and still not
bind.
