At least the Sherline anodize is hard, the MAX ano is thin and soft. I
have been looking at bonding some .002 shim stock to the way surfaces on
one side of the slide. Anodized aluminum against SS, with lube just has
to be better than Al to Al.
I've just been too busy to mess with it. Adhesive would have to be
spread thin and evenly, and some means of clamping would have to be
employed to make sure the shim stock maintained the proper geometrical
alignment of the surfaces it's bonded to.
Casting with Moglice would require some setup time to make sure the axis
were properly aligned. It will also replicate even the smallest surface
imperfections which could cause binding until they were lapped out.
