Hmmm, Thanks Carles,
It probably wouldn't benefit me much to upgrade - I just wondered what
had improved. Now I'm getting into Linux I'm intrigued by the speed at
which it, and relevant apps, are developing. Hopefully in a week or two
I'll have another computer up and running that I can dedicate to playing
with linux - I also want to try different versions to see how they
differ. Few of the people in our local Linux users group use Redhat and
so, if I ask them a question - apart from the answer being in
'geek-speak', it is also usually in a 'foreign language', being related
to the versions of linux they are running. This appears to be one of the
drawbacks with linux at the moment in that it has not yet found a
standardisation across all versions and so I think a familiarity with
the directory structures and loading peculiarities of the more popular
systems would probably be an advantage.
List: Has anyone else heard of the 'World Linux Users Day' on Sept
16th.? This is supposed to be a grand event publicising linux worldwide
but, as far as I can see, the only actual 'event' happening is a
demonstration of several systems at one of our local bookshops! More
