Cadman,
I recommend the RF30 (or 31) sku# 2119 from Harbor Freight. It has a
2hp motor and a poly belt cover (low noise). You can usuallly get it
for the "sale" price of $899 with some "salesmanship" to the HF store
manager.
Some have said it is no longer availalbe mail order, only at the
store. If so, then the enco model which is 2 hp and poly belt housing
will be the same machine, only more expensive to purchase.
The Grizzly model 1006 (I think) is another good choice. (Its the one
with the largest table size- about 9x32). The smaller (RF20 size)
M/D's give up a lot of travel and take up nearly the same space...
Smaller motor and less quill travel too! Quill travel is essential to
usefullness of these machines, since they lose position when the
powerhead is raised/ lowered. (until modified<G>)
