Bob Nansel has called me several times about his articles in Nuts and
olts( Bob Nansel and I met at the Seattle Robotic Society meetings and
stayed in contact after his move to Pennsylvania). He is essentially making
a variation of one of my older works.
The four holes for mounting the Enco X-Y mill/drill table are not critical.
What you want to make sure of is that the position of the XY axis can be
located where you will have the maximum coverage from the Z axis. I used the
XY table as the template and scribed the holes, then center punch, pilot
drilled then drill the holes. If your holes line up with the XY table when
your done then you did fine.
The ( he calls it the tower) Z axis was unclear in his article. But what I
did was to completely assembled the Z axis including the power head. I put
a small bit into the power head and then positioned the Z axis over the
point where X=0 and Y=0 Then I scribed the holes for the Z axis on the base,
center punch them, pilot drilled them then drilled the holes.
