You can pick up a Sherline headstock with motor and speed control for a list
of $260 and there are list members who are Sherline dealers and will
discount that. If you just want to get the head stock it is only $85 list
and you can add your own motor. There is also the Taig headstock which is a
little less money than the Sherline. For most purposes I would suggest the
Sherline as it has a larger spindle and bearings and has a real morse taper.
The only advantage to the Taig is that it has a much higher speed rating if
that is a requirement.
