Tom,
I find the venerable XTree Gold a very fine program for housekeeping.
I don't know if it has the browse mode you want, but it's easy to
highlight a file and hit V (view) to look at the file. There is a limit
to what it will open, it won't open a 1.2 meg surfacing file for
example. Ebay is probably a good place to look for a copy.
