I'll have to emphatically disagree with you regarding point number 2. I
frequently machine aluminum on both my mill and lathe. If I don't use
coolant, the aluminum will heat to the point where particles of aluminum
will stick to the cutter and interfere with cutting. If not caught
immediately, this problem can evven lead to forcibly moving the part in the
vise or chuck jaws. Incidently, I use kereosene for coolant as it takes
very little to eliminate the problem.
