RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Bridget

At the moment getting ignored. Hope to get back to work on her very soon. I
pulled the stock stepper off the Z axis and got an adapter plate made for
the servo I am putting on, but now I need to mount an encoder. The original
encoder on the motor got destroyed in shipping (the shipper put it in a box
with the plastic encoder housing against the cardboard. Needless to say
there was nothing left to salvage in the encoders after United Parcel
Smashers did their normal routine on the 40 lbs box). While it seems a shame
that the nice 1000 line glass disk encoders were destroyed it really didn't
matter for Bridgett as the motor would not fit with the stock encoder mount.
I have to dispense with the helical coupler and direct mount the encoder to
the back of the motor to get enough clearance. Have some HP 200 line units
on hand that go on a 5mm shaft. Need to turn the shaft down from .5". Now
that means I need to get the Shoptask up and running again after the move
from the basement.

Also think I am getting some interference on the encoder lines. Ordered some
differential transmitters and receivers (9637/9638 pair). We will see if
that doesn't quite things down.

Now to just find the time to work on all this.
