50" between the ways!?! This must be a BIG lathe! It sounds like my 12 x 48"
Craftsman could be dropped SIDEWAYS between those ways! My wife
could almost stand up sideways between the ways! YIKES!

Hmm, you don't actually say lathe there, is this a bed mill?
