No. A servo motor is not, generally, like a stepper. Servo motors come
in DC brush, DC brushless, AC permanent magnet (which is nearly
indistinguishable from "DC brushlesss") and AC induction. (There are other
types that are quite rare).

The gecko Servo drives need a DC brush motor (or one of the exotic
DC brushless motors with internal electronic commutation, meant
as drop-in replacements for DC brush motors).

A stepper with an encoder is not a servo motor, it is just a stepper with
position feedback.
