I can tell from my French lady (4 tons) that when I use the boring head that at
the bottom I stop the head, turn the chisel towards me drive out and do not
touch the wall at all. If not I make a deep groove.

The worst years of Bridgeport seem to me fall together with the worst car years:

In mid seventies most BP-mills were made out of a damn soft casting without any
hardening, only sometimes plated with chrome that you can not rebuild.
(This is my personal experience so please no flaming afterwards)
