don't have your name server set up.
Does you ISP do dynamic IP? (most do). Or did they assign you an
address permanently. Chances are you will have to use the DHCP client
program to get your IP address and other network parameters. The new
"pump" program doesn't know how to ask for a nameserver, so you have
to use the old "dhcpcd" program instead.
Perhaps you could try the following and report what happens:
/bin/ping 199.95.74.90
(or some other ip address, to verify you can see the net beyond your isp)
/bin/ping www.boston.com
(to see if you can reach a site by name)
/sbin/route -n
(to see if you have a gateway configured)
cat /etc/resolv.conf
(to see if you have a nameserver configured)
