Chris:
It probably was me who found the LFN driver. You're welcome. Too bad that
VectorCAD still writes the file name as 8.3 if you enter a name. At least,
if you merely load and save (without entering a different file name) it
apparently uses handles and preserves the LFN. Norton used to provide that
utility as part of the "Norton Utilities." I used to have it, but probably
discarded the CD as I moved over to almost all 32 bit applications. I think
that VectorCAD is the only 16 bit app that I'm using on a "mainline" basis.
Please let me know if you find any good add-ons that let you get at other
menu items.
Aside to Fred from IMService - is IMService keeping a list of users'
enhancement requests for the next release? If so, I think you can get a
couple of gems from our notes.
I finally recreated a DOS-Win31 environment on my Zenith notebook in
anticipation of getting all of the toys to put CNC on my mill. I've
assembled (but not tested) the Camtronics 2 amp board and expect a box from
UPS with the Sherline goodies today.
Is anyone using TurboCNC from Kowalski on their system? I'd be interested in
hearing of your experiences. Its advantages, to me, are that the source code
is freely available and it's written in Pascal, a language in which I am
fluent. Has anyone modified this program to get a graphics display of the
cutting path? I've been searching the web and found several graphics
libraries for TurboPascal which are available at the same price that Dave
charges for his work. Besides Stepster, are there any other G-Code
interpreters in the DOS/Win environment whose source is available?
