If you are going to purchase a new computer to run linux and EMC you
should verify the hardware is compatible with linux. At least have an
understanding with the retailer that you can return hardware which
doesn't work under linux. There are lists of hardware compatibility for
linux on the Internet, one specifically for Red Hat.

I think the video drivers are the trickiest part. Also, if you are
including them, modems and sound cards are likely to be incompatilbe.
I just ordered a new computer and avoided the new Pentium 4 as I'm not
sure they are easily compatible. Hopefully you can find a computer
store with a few linux fluent people.

This isn't a real big problem but can save hours trying to make an
incompatible piece of hardware work.
