After much frustration, I decided to put a hard drive with
Windows on it in there and double check my hardware.

Seems the comm ports decided to shit the bed just as I needed them.
No mouse, no matter what.
So, it isn't Linux.
Although disapointing, this made me happy it wasn't Linux..., or me.

Putting in a nother board (motherboard) tonight.
Will update everyone on how it goes.

By the by, as someone who has installed over 200
instances of Windows, NT, and a few Novells,
I was quite surprised to see the Linux install completed in less than 10
minutes.
That's neat.
Now, if I could just use it...
