That should be /etc/resolv.conf, but that just gives the IP addresses of the
domain name servers. (Which could be your problem, but it might be something
else.)
You also should check out the results of the command /sbin/route, which shows
where and through what interface net requests are routed.

You can also find out more info on what is going on with such commands
as ping 64.131.59.25 (that's my system, numerically) or
ping pico-systems.com (my system by name) and traceroute <net name>
