if you have any extra travel outside the original limit switches (~1/8")
you could add cheaper less accurate 'overtravel' switches to kill the
power to the drives 'just in case'

the computer will read the home and limit switches as usual
without shutting down the drives so you can recover without losing
position but if something goes horribly wrong you wont drop the
table on the floor
