I'm not really sure what you mean by a 3'n1 machine but, presuming it is one
of those Smithy or other brand machines with the mill head mounted above the
spindle, I can see why some wouldn't recommend converting it. I for one
woouldn't want one either. That's why I've got the DreamMachine designed in
such a way that it can be used as a lathe and/or a mill (with lots of other
available features if desired).
