Slo-syn Steppers

Hi Gang, now it is time for me to ask a couple questions. I have several slo-syn motors that i will reconnect from 3 wire to 8 wire, also i have some sigma steppers that are 3 wire i will also make them 8 wire. Now how can i calculate the amps per phase? or volts/amps per phase. The other question, so i take one of these 3 wire steppers and rewind the coils with heavier wire and connect them for 8 wire how do i determine volts/amps per phase. I know the transformer routine and math but it doesnt apply here. thanks cul brian f.
