Why waste your money canabalizing a G340 to get step multiplication when
this has almost nothing to do with logic power?

I'm tempted to offer to sell you a magic little black box that will
supply optoisolator power for all your stepper drives, at some exhorbitant
markup over the five bucks or so it would cost at any electronics
store.
