RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Other than Eagle

on 2001-10-29 07:45:59 UTC
All,

I have tried Eagle and Kcam.

Kcam lets me import my gerber files fine but it only outlines the Pads
(Flashes) and not the trace's so it does not work for mechanical etching.

Eagle looks like it might work and I have the outline_gcode.ulp but it
will not import my PCB gerber files.

I use Protel for schematic and board layout and camtastic2000 for CAM.
But I have been unable to get outlines for mechanical etching out of them.

Any idea's.

Thanks
Chris

Chris,
Try KCam from www.kellyware.com Besides running motors
it has a built in plotting program. Imports DXF,PLT and Gerber and
save them as GCode. It has an editor built in. Just make sure you
hit REFRESH before saving. Runs for a month before shutting off. Will
create ouline files from PLT files. You can set the size of your
Table in the program so you can see where the Gcode is going to
start. I use the program to backplot only. I am running an old
freeware copy of the program. It is the best program around for
the beginner.
