Wilson -

Are you just trying to find the max fork travel that you are
using, or do you need to plot fork travel vs. distance ridden? If
you just need an indication of fork travel used, you might be able
to do what mountain bikers do with suspension forks - wrap a
zip-tie around the chromed stanchion tubes, snugly, but loose
enough to be pushed by the seal. After a ride, measure the stroke
with a tape measure.

A more robust solution might be a couple of proximity switches
mounted on your fork reading a metal strip with holes in it
mounted
to the shock tube at the wheel. The holder for the prox switches
would act as a guide for the metal strip. You should be able to
get a
resolution of 4x the hole spacing; the minimum hole spacing
depends
on the size of the prox switch. Andy
