Hi Wilson,

I'll take a shot at it. Sounds like you're interested in the LINEAR
motion of the forks. I'd run a light weight steel cable (bicycle stuff)
from the forks to a pulley on a 10-turn pot. Take a couple of turns
around the pulley, and then take it back to a spring.
