For that kind of "non-electronic" application, the rectified output of a
Variac (S.E.'s name for "variable transformer") would do. Oh, if you need
more voltage, you could feed the output of the Variac into the primary of a
2:3 transformer, even an auto-transformer, and rectify the output of that.

For less than, say, 40 VDC, "precision" voltage-regulation is routine, using
such as the 78HGA adjustable, 4-pin TO-3 regulator (Fairchild Semiconductor).


But a relatively-precision (i.e., "electronic") 3-amp DC adjustable/regulated
supply, up to 200 VDC? We're talking some serious change!
