Hi Chris

there was the ZipEMC install a while back that used the umsdos
file system on a windows partition (with XF86) it was an easy to
install no compiling needed 'test drive' version with all the
development tools needed for rebuilding the source code
check
http://www.linuxcnc.org/handbook/install/zipslack.html

I just did some checking and found out that the 2.4.x kernel
has some problems booting from a umsdos filesystem ,it
can frag the rest of the drive ,so this install is limited to the
2.0.x and 2.2.x kernels this shouldn't be a problem for EMC
unless the user really needs some feature from 2.4.x

I'd also like to see a good non GUI interface (curses or svgalib?)
it could really reduce the size of the system
