Hi, maybe i can shed a little light on the subject of the welding. it's
called Atomic welding,basically it is spot welding using a capacitor
discharge. now the jewelry industry uses this to weld a stud onto a very
thin hollow ball of precious metal. the trick is how the heat is
distributed. the stud being heavy is hung out of the chuck quite a bit where
as the ball was almost covered by the holder to keep the heat on the ball at
the minimum. the action is this: cap charges to power level set by operator,
a stud and ball are placed in the fixtures, the stud is then brought into
contact with the ball at which time the Atomic weld takes place. the fixture
releases both parts and the cycle repeated. these Atomic welders were found
all over the place in the factory i used to have jewelry made. contact me
