Hi,

1/2 inch 12 Threads Per Inch is a standard British Standard Whitworth
thread. The best way I have found to make a nut of this size is to make a
tap first. After hardening use the tap to make the nut. If you are going to
make a nut the following may be of use.

Thread angle 55 Degrees
Core Dia 0.3933"
Pitch 0.0833"
Depth 0.0534"
Radius 0.0114"
Effective Dia 0.4466"

Tapping drill size is 10.50mm or 'Z' letter drill size (0.4134")
