I took a gander at your pics., Chris. Looks like a heavy duty set
up....except for the screws. I'd recommend using much larger diameter
screws for long spans.
The way I build, I'd probably build the frame from 2 x 4 steel tubing and
use round guide bars mounted on top with Thompson ball bushings for guides
for all three axis.
