Mill/Drill conversion update

Hi Folks,
I posted a couple more pictures of my Mill/Drill CNC conversion
in the "Jeff's ... " Photo folder.
I'm actually a bit further that what the pictures show. I now have
both X and Y axes fully automated, and am using the 2-axis
capability to create the motor mounts for the Z axis. I should have
all 3 axes functional by this weekend.
It was quite a thrill to see and hear both motors running up and
down to trace out a circle. My wife though it was a siren outside!
The system seems to be pretty accurate, and my backlash with
the non-preloaded ball nuts is only about .002 per axis. No-load
feed rates are in the upper 50's (inch/min) after some
acceleration adjustments, and everything seems to be working
well.
I'll send out a final post and more pictures once my Z-axis is
complete. Until then, I'd be happy to answer any questions you
might have.
Best,
Jeff Swayze
