2. Red Lion controls make ready to go boxes with display & all. Perhaps

3. If you prefer the homebrew approach, I have some small boards I made for a
project long ago that counted the pulse train from a hall sensor (among other
things) and could output data over a serial interface. Coupled with a serial
LCD display (see below) it would do what you want.
